Keara Sherman,  Ph.D.

Keara D. Sherman, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in both Missouri and Kansas. She received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2020. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D., Dr. Sherman worked for several years as a school counselor outside of Boston, MA. She has experience working with children, teens, adults of all ages, and couples. Dr. Sherman’s areas of interest include identity concerns, anxiety, depression, substance use and behavioral addictions, and anger management. Additionally, she also works with athletes and those involved in sports and performance. Dr. Sherman has experience with adopted individuals, as well as other individuals impacted by adoption. She uses primarily an Existential approach to help clients create meaning, take ownership of their lives, and become more self-aware. She believes that humor and directness have important roles in the therapeutic space, and emphasizes the therapeutic relationship as the primary driver of growth.

Katie LeCluyse,  Ph.D.

Katie LeCluyse, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist who received her doctorate from the University of New Orleans. She spent two years in postdoctoral training in the Behavioral Pediatric Department at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. She specializes in assessment and intervention with children and adolescents. Her areas of interest include anxiety, OCD, behavior management, adjustment issues, ADHD, social skills intervention and parent training

Allan Schmidt,  Ph.D.

Allan Schmidt, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in Kansas and Missouri. Since receiving his Ph.D. in 1982, he has worked in a variety of settings with a wide range of clients, including children, adolescents, adults, families and couples. In his clinical practice he specializes in the assessment of those with suspected ADHD. He also conducts evaluations for employment issues, fitness for duty, and workers compensation. Ron Lybarger,  Ph.D.

Ron Lybarger, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist, has been providing a wide range of mental health and psychoeducational services to deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing individuals for over 25 years. Dr. Lybarger holds degrees in Sign Language Interpreting, Addiction Studies, and Counseling Psychology. He has extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance abuse related issues. He has been involved in the development of many educational, prevention, and treatment resources for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.

Carolyn Pepper,  Psy.D.

Carolyn Pepper, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist in Kansas and Missouri and received her doctorate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2015. Specializing in both assessment and therapy, Dr. Pepper has experience with a wide range of clients and treatments, including assessment with those with suspected ADHD or specific learning disorder. She has expertise in the areas of anxiety, depression, mood disorder, sex and sexuality, identity concerns, and family of origin difficulties. As a RYT 200, Dr. Pepper can utilize aspects of trauma sensitive yoga in working with clients who have experienced historical or recent trauma. She works from an approach that emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and elements of attachment, offering a supportive and, at times, perhaps challenging space. Dr. Pepper enjoys working with clients from varied backgrounds and with diverse experiences.

Social Workers
Anne Schmidt,  LSCSW

Anne Schmidt, MSW. is a licensed specialist clinical social worker. She received her Masters in social work from the University of Windsor in 1980. She has extensive experience in the area of addictions, having worked in inpatient and outpatient settings at Henry Ford Hospital and Yale University. She has been in Private practice in the Kansas City area since 1993. She works with adolescents, their families as well as adults.She is experienced in helping patients resolve depression and anxiety including OCD, social anxiety, phobias and panic attacks. She also treats eating disorders and other compulsive disorders. She provides marital and family therapy and continues to expand her knowledge and training in each of the above areas.

Valerie Rodriguez,  LSCSW, RPT

Valerie Rodriguez, LSCSW,RPT is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist in Kansas. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work in 2002 from the University of Kansas. Valerie has over 12 years' experience as a therapist with children, adults and families in a variety of clinical settings with diverse populations.

Valerie specializes in providing therapy for children age 3 to adolescent that are struggling with emotional and behavioral concerns, trauma, ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety and depressive symptoms as well as parenting support and training. In addition Valerie treats adults dealing with adjustment and life stressor concerns, trauma, anxiety, depressive symptoms, mood disorders and family and marital relationship issues. Valerie has extensive training in parenting instruction, training in play therapy, and a treatment modality called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) that is specifically designed to help individuals overcome trauma and has proven to be helpful with individuals dealing with anxiety and depression as well.


Cindy Henderson,  LSCSW

Cindy Henderson, MSW, is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1985. For over 35 years, she has worked with individuals, couples, and families in outpatient and inpatient settings, as a therapist and supervisor of sexual abuse, corrections, and child/adolescent treatment teams.

Cindy has expertise in treating anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, trauma, life transitions, relationship issues, grief and loss, LGBTQ issues, and addictive behaviors. She enjoys working collaboratively with tweens, adolescents, adults, and seniors to address their unique needs and to promote improved self-awareness, self-confidence and ability connect with others in a meaningful way.


Stephanie Allegre,  LSCSW

Stephanie Allegre, LSCSW, is a licensed specialist clinical social worker. She received her Masters in social work from the University of Kansas in 1986. In 1992, she completed the Family Institute family therapy training program. She has worked for the public school system as a school social worker for the past 30 years.

Stephanie has worked extensively with adolescents and families in the areas of depression, anxiety, parent/child conflicts, anger, school refusal, legal involvement, LGBTQ issues, pregnancy, dating relationships, grief and loss, as well as, learning, behavior and spectrum disorders. She has a straightforward counseling approach and believes that building trust is critical for productive relationships and successful outcomes.


Catherine Besley,  LSCSW

Catherine Besley is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology in 1983 and Master’s in Social Work in 1985, both from the University of Kansas. She has over 30 years’ experience working with individuals and families in the Kansas City area in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She sees tweens (11-13), adolescents, adults, and families. Catherine has extensive experience treating problems associated with sexual abuse/trauma, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, life transitions, and codependency issues. Areas of special interest/training include adolescents, LGBTQ issues, divorce/infidelity, and grief/bereavement. She believes in focusing on strength and hope in an environment of trust, cultural sensitivity, and humor.
